Visa types to Vietnam

If you are planning to visit Vietnam for tourism, meeting relatives/friends, business activities or otherwise, you can apply for an E-Visa to Vietnam. It is mandatory to have a visa to Vietnam and you can get a visa on arrival or apply for an E-visa in advance. The safest option is an E-visa that you apply for before traveling to Vietnam and is also what the embassy recommends. The advantage of E-visa is that you avoid long queues with complications when you arrive, the risk of being refused a visa on the spot and that you do not have to make a cash payment. The e-visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days and is available for a single or multiple entries.

Handling time is between 1 and 2 weeks

To apply, we need the following documents and information from you:

  • A fully completed application form. You can download the form by click here.
  • A color photograph in the size 50×50 mm. We recommend that you use our digital photo service when you order your visa.
  • A scanned copy of the identity page of your passport.
  • The address of your place of residence in Vietnam, such as hotel or family/friend.
  • A return flight booking with the traveller's name.

Please note that the E-Visa is valid when entering or leaving Vietnam from any of the following airports:

Cat Bi Int Airport (Hai Phong), Cam Ranh Int Airport (Khanh Hoa), Can Tho International Airport, Da Nang International Airport, Noi Bai Int Airport (Ha Noi), Phu Bai Int Airport, Phu Quoc International Airport, Tan Son Nhat Int Airport (Ho Chi Minh City)

For entry and exit by land or by sea, see valid entry terminals here.

What is an E-Visa?

Starting in the 2000s, many countries introduced E-visas and Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETAs) as an alternative to traditional visas. ETAs are pre-arrival registrations that can be officially or unofficially classified as visas depending on the issuing jurisdiction. They are required for exempt foreign travelers. If an ETA application is rejected, the traveler can choose to apply for a visa instead. E-visas are visas that travelers can easily apply for with us on My Visa and get online without visiting consulates or visa agencies. Read more about what an E-visa is
